Melissa Hurwitz, DPM

Dr. Melissa Hurwitz, originally from snowy Syracuse, NY, is a graduate of D’Youville College in Buffalo, NY. She completed her doctorate degree at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine and did her residency training at the world renowned Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. She then went on to complete her fellowship training in Reconstructive Foot and Ankle Surgery and minimally invasive bunion surgery in Naples, Florida. She is a member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, and is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and board qualified in foot surgery and reconstructive foot and ankle surgery by American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.

Throughout her rigorous three year residency training, Dr. Hurwitz received extensive training in managing all aspects of foot and ankle pathologies including; sports medicine, trauma, reconstructive and elective surgeries, limb salvage, dermatological diseases and pediatric foot pain. She has taken additional courses in comprehensive and advanced internal fixation, as well as ankle arthroscopy. During her fellowship, she gained experience in managing complicated patients who were often looking for a second or third opinion. These experiences allowed her to develop more creative ways to treat difficult conditions both conservatively, and if necessary, surgically.

Dr. Hurwitz enjoys giving back to those in need through volunteering her time. Of note, she has taken a major role in a public health initiative in Bangkok, Thailand, providing limb salvage surgeries to underprivileged patients and lecturing on foot care education to various health care professionals. She has also recently helped create a non profit organization focused on helping underserved youth.

After practicing for several years in Houston, Dr. Hurwitz is excited to start her new life in Colorado with her husband and son. She loves animals and enjoys staying active and spending time outdoors
